The
Oroville Rescue Mission was built at it current location(4250
Lincoln Blvd) in 1973 to meet the basic physical and spiritual needs
of the transient populaton in Oroville. For those "riding the rails"
Oroville was a common stopping place and the Rescue Mission was
strategically built adjacent to the rail yard. At the time a soup
kitchen and a warm place to stay, and exposure to the Gospel of
Jesus Christ was all that was offered. Over the next forty-five
years the Lord began to send men with vision to the Rescue Mission,
and its services to the community began to grow and continues to
expand to meet the ever growing needs of our community and it's
surrounding areas. Today the Oroville Rescue Mission is more than a
stopping point for transients. The Mission not only provides
emergency shelter for men but has a Women and Children's shelter as
well. With it's discipleship and recovery programs men and women are
able to see their lives restored through the power of Jesus
Christ. What once was known as a "stopping point" is now known as a
"turning point" |
