2009 Spring Musical

"Crazy For You"

Crazy For You uses beloved Gershwin songs to tell the story of Bobby Child, a well-to-do 1930s playboy, whose dream in life is to dance. And despite the serious efforts of his mother and soon-to-be-ex-fiancée, Bobby achieves his dream! The show, which takes us on a singing and tap-dancing journey from New York City to the American West and back, won the Tony Award for Best Musical in 1992. It’s a high energy comedy which includes mistaken identity, plot twists, fabulous dance numbers, and, of course, that classic Gershwin music. Harmony Explosion 2009

State Theater - Oroville

The Sound of the Foothills Chorus and the Barbershop Harmony Society will be presenting Harmony Explosion 2009 at the State Theater Performing Arts Center at the corner of Myers & Robinson Streets in Downtown Oroville. The performance will begin at 7pm. Headlining the event is Tahoe Blue from Reno, Nevada, a Barbershop Quartet. Also performing that evening are California Heat, which is the Red Bluff chapter of Sweet Adelines and the all-male chorus, Sound of the Foothills, from Paradise. Barbershop Quartets Volatile from Paradise and Gesundheit! from Chico will also lend their marvelous sounds to the evening's entertainment. Yo-Yo Museum: The National Yo-Yo Museum chronologically displays the evolution of the yo-yo, and the marketing techniques that were responsible for the toy's popularity. It offers a look into a unique pastime of American youth. There are collections of nostalgic photos of campaigns and tournaments which relive the fun yo-yos have brought to kids throughout the decades.
