Butte College Fashion Show 08

Butte Community College’s Fashion 90 class presents its annual fashion show “Assignment Runway.” It will be showcased on May 9th at 1078 Gallery on 820 Broadway in downtown Chico at 8pm sharp. Assignment Runway will be showing garments from local Oroville and Chico retailers with all the latest high fashion trends for men and women. The fashion show will present four different stylistic themes: Wipe Out, Spectrum, Silhouettes, and Delusion. This is the perfect mix of style and edge all at once. Durham's 91st Annual Parade

 & Picnic
May 10: 10am
This wonderful community celebration begins with the 10am downtown parade that starts at Durham Unified School District Parking lot, traveling to Midway and finishing at the Pratt School Market Place on Brown Street. The parade is a unique mix of patriotism, local bands, horse groups, children's entries, floats and antique cars and tractors. Parade goers then move in mass to the Durham Park where local organizations have food booths for the a world class picnic. Children's games and petting Zoo a silent auction, antique small engines, fire engines, Barnyard Bingo, Old Timer's Booth, Cotton Candy, & Snow Cone! Just a few thing the that the Whole family can enjoy! Red Suspenders Day Celebration May 17:  7am-4pm
Gridley celebrates the honor of the volunteer and career firefighters with a parade, bed races, games for kids in the kids area, and firemen competition with water events between different fire stations. There are food vendors, arts and craft vendors, entertainment with a live band. All this starts with a pancake breakfast at 7 am on a Saturday morning and ends at 4 PM. There is a softball game between the Gridley Police and Fire Department on Friday evening at 7 pm on the Gridley Little League field. Much more!

Silver Dollar Fair

 May 21-26, 2008

 

Since 1950 the Silver Dollar Fair has been growing strong!  Did you know that the fair got its name because of a publicity campaign in 1950?  "Old Hutch" Hutchison ordered 50,000 silver dollars from the U.S. mint to use for the fair's business transactions that year.  The silver dollars started showing up all over town and Northern California.  You can find out more about the fair's history at the Silver Dollar Fair's official web site ... along with a detailed schedule for this year's events.
